Dinamo Romprest takes on mission impossible playing Turkey’s giant VakifBank
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women
Bucuresti, Romania, December 9, 2013. After edging twice Belgium’s rookie GENT Dames, Romania’s Dinamo Romprest BUCURESTI will be playing their toughest opponent in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. They are indeed set to take on Turkey’s VakifBank ISTANBUL, the winners of the past edition as well as the gold medalists from this year’s FIVB Club World Championships who have swept 65 matches in a row since September 2012. Therefore the game coming up on Wednesday at Dinamo hall is like a mountain to climb for Dinamo Romprest.
“The fact that we are going to play VakifBank shall turn this game into a major event” says General Manager Marian Stefan. “We have the opportunity to see a great team in action but we shall also not forget that last year we beat Galatasaray in Istanbul by the time it looked like we were not going to stand a chance. So I would not rule out a second miracle could happen on Wednesday here” he adds.
“I do not think that there has ever been a stronger team than VakifBank in the history of this competition” stresses Dinamo Romprest team captain Diana Nenova. “However, this does not mean that we are not going to play with glowing hearts so as to cause a sensation. Any point we take from this game would help us improve our position in the standing and so we have to be well ready for this match where we may surprise the whole European Volleyball family.”
“In Istanbul we played good only for the first set and now we have the chance to play our best from the start up to the end of the game” says middle blocker Alida Marcovici. “This is the only way to hope for a better result than the one we achieved there.”
