Eczacibasi VitrA wants to prolong winning streak
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Istanbul, Turkey, December 9, 2013. Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL has been one of the dominant forces so far in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. Turkey’s standout has indeed swept four matches in a row and did not concede any set to their opponents so far, being the only team to achieve this feat. Their next stop will be on Wednesday as they host Germany’s SCHWERINER SC at the Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall for the fifth round of action in Pool D.
After routing RC CANNES twice and always with the same score (3:0), Eczacibasi basically secured they will finish first in the group but still have another two matches to play and after hosting SCHWERINER SC in Istanbul, they will fly to the Czech Republic to play Agel PROSTEJOV for the sixth and last round coming up next week. SCHWERINER SC is currently ranked at the bottom of the charts in Pool D with zero points while RC CANNES and Agel PROSTEJOV share the second position with six apiece.
“We have been improving the quality of our game and we played two excellent matches with RC CANNES, winning at home as well as away in straight sets” says Italian-born head coach Lorenzo Micelli. “This makes us the best performing team across all preliminary Pools. We want to continue that streak by edging also SCHWERINER SC so that we can take on the Playoffs 12 with the necessary boost of confidence.”
“We really played a good game with RC CANNES last week and we feel great going into the last couple of rounds” adds team captain Esra Gümüs Kirici. “The second phase of the League Round is sometimes more difficult because the teams already know each other quite well. However, we have a great team as we have showed in the previous rounds and I think we are in an excellent shape right now.”
