GENT Dames want to win their first set in last CL home game
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Gent, Belgium, December 8, 2013. Belgium’s rookie GENT Dames still hasn’t claimed a single set after four rounds are complete in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. The players around head coach Stijn Morand are nevertheless very motivated to achieve that feat on Wednesday at the Tolhuis Arena where they go for their last home match hosting Poland’s champions Atom Trefl SOPOT.
After losing last week in straight sets to Dinamo Romprest BUCURESTI, GENT Dames did see all of their hopes to continue their European campaign vanish in the air but this also means that Trefl needs to score an away victory in Belgium to keep their second place in the standing of the group and make the Playoffs 12. SOPOT will travel to Belgium in high spirits after beating the current leader of their national league, Chemik POLICE, last weekend. On the other hand, GENT Dames just lost their last game in the Belgian league after a dramatic tie-break (which ended at 17-19 for their opponent Dauphines CHARLEROI).

The captain of the Belgian national team, known as the Yellow Tigers, Charlotte Leys, will come back to her home country but wearing the jersey of Poland’s champions. There shall be also some Dutch fans in attendance for Judith Pietersen also plays for the likes of SOPOT this season. The organizers have announced that a dance crew from the city of Evergem has been invited to cheer up the audience during the time-outs and between the sets.
