Omichka routs BEZIERS Volley in three quick sets
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Omsk, Russia, December 4, 2013. Russia’s rookie Omichka OMSK REGION claimed on Wednesday their third victory in prelim Pool A of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League as they easily downed France’s BEZIERS Volley in straight sets (25-9, 25-14, and 25-17) to cement their credentials for making the Playoffs 12 of Europe’s elite competition. This way Omichka repeated what they had achieved last week in France where they already routed BEZIERS in three consecutive sets.
Home star Natalya Mammadova paced Omichka with 16 points including four aces; Elena Yureva supported the local side with two blocks while Iuliia Kutiukova stood out in reception for the “Cats” as the players of Omichka are known in Russia. The next stop for Omichka will be the away match with DRESDNER SC coming up next December 11 in Germany.
“We can’t be happy with the result” says BEZIERS Volley team captain Hélène Schleck. “Our opponent did really impress us with their physical skills and great technique. Omichka has got what it takes to make the Playoffs and achieve some good results in this competition. We lacked fighting spirit and we did not perform as we should have. Maybe we were also tired after the long journey we had to undertake to make it to Omsk.”
“I am disappointed because we shall have played better than we did tonight. Once we get back to the hotel, I will have a discussion with the players. Some of them simply did not play today. I guess that they were tired after the long journey but this is not an excuse for our poor performance” commented BEZIERS Volley head coach Cyril Ong.

“Today we played better than we had done last week in France. We were playing at home so we did not need to adjust to different conditions and we were supported by our fans” said Omichka team captain Elena Yureva. “Our serve was good and I have seen that we have improved a lot on that skill.”
“We played showing the right respect for our opponents from the first up to the last point. I am satisfied with our performance and with the result of the match” said Omichka mentor Zoran Terzic. “I would like to congratulate our club, players, and fans because we basically have made it among the top 12 teams in Europe; we will now be playing our best in order to make the next round as the first-ranked team from our Pool.”
