Omichka OMSK REGION defeats brave French rookies
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Béziers, France, November 26, 2013. On Tuesday France’s rookie BEZIERS Volley suffered their second home defeat in preliminary Pool A of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. Russia’s Omichka OMSK REGION cruised past in three sets (25-16, 25-22, and 26-24) to improve their win-loss record to 2-1.
Omichka started the match very aggressively powered by their Cuban-born spiker Nancy Carrillo. Even though the home heroines displayed some good actions in defense, they still could not stop the run of the Russian giant that easily pocketed the opening set with the score of 25-16.
Omichka quickly set the pace of the game also in the second set leading the way by four points but BEZIERS played with glowing hearts to reduce their gap to a minimum (12:13). They even had the slimmest possible margin by the second technical time-out (16:15) but OMSK REGION responded by changing gear and wrapping it up at 25-22 for the provisional 2:0.
Omichka looked a little too relaxed in the early phases of the third set and BEZIERS exploited this opportunity to score a few good points. Loudly cheered by their many fans, the home heroines played their best volleyball and continued to dictate the tempo of the game also after the second mandatory stop (19:16). However, Omichka found a way to fight back and after one hour and a half finished the game in straight sets (26-24) for their second win in the competition.
