Greece scores second win at World Champs qualifier in Anapa
2013 FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship - European Qualification

Anapa, Russia, May 9, 2013. On the day Russia celebrates Victory Day, i.e. the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War (World War II), with the home guys enjoying a rest day, the teams of Greece and Austria claimed their second and first win respectively at the qualification tournament for the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship that is running this week at “Volley Grad” in Anapa.
Greece opened Thursday’s program by routing Denmark in three straight sets (25-18, 25-18, and 25-20) as they were supported by a group of fans living in Anapa. There’s indeed a large Greek community in this neighborhood and so the young players from Greece could feel somehow at home as they cruised to their second win in the competition.
After losing on Wednesday to the home heroes of Russia, Austria edged Montenegro in straight sets too (26-24, 25-18, and 25-20); after a very close opening set, Austria accelerated the pace and did find less and less resistance from the guys standing on the other side of the net, thereby bringing it home in straight sets.
