Pool A runner-up Romania qualifies for final four
2013 CEV Volleyball European League - Women

Varna, Bulgaria, July 6, 2013. On Saturday Romania qualified for the final four of the 2013 CEV Volleyball European League – Women after completing the last weekend of preliminary action by edging Hungary 3:2 (13-21, 21-12, 21-23, 21-11, and 15-12). The match was packed with ups and downs and though Romania went down twice and Hungary set the pace even in the tie-break (8:4), the players mentored by Marian Constantin pulled together to bring it home (15-12). Romania finished the prelims with 20 points, well ahead of Turkey (16) with last year’s silver medalists Bulgaria on top with 27.
“We are very happy with this victory” Constantin said. “We also hope to come back even stronger next week as we play the finals here in Varna”.
In the other match of the day the home heroines of Bulgaria completed their campaign in the prelims by seeing off Turkey 3:1 (21-17, 21-17, 18-21, and 21-14) to cement their leadership in Pool A. “We hope we can improve on today’s performance and show something better next week as we play the finals before our fans” Bulgaria’s head coach Marcello Abbondanza said. “I am glad that all of our players are fit and will do our best to win the European League next week” he added hoping to improve on last year’s silver medal as Bulgaria lost the final match to the Czechs.
