PGE Skra second win over Dinamo pre-books first place in iron group
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men

Moscow, Russia, November 22, 2012. Dinamo MOSCOW lost tonight once more – after last week’s defeat in Poland – to PGE Skra BELCHATOW that hence remains the absolute leader of the standings in preliminary Pool E of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men. With some 2’000 fans in attendance, Skra edged Dinamo with the score of 3:1 (25-16, 22-25, 27-25, and 25-21) displaying a very solid performance, especially in attack.
Bartosz Kurek, who was transferred to Dinamo this past season after playing for Skra for six years, joined the game right from the start thereby ending his long absence – about six weeks – from the court due to injury. Kurek was substituted halfway through the opening set and made another appearance in set 4 to end the match registering seven points. PGE Skra was anchored by Aleksandar Atanasijevic who scored 22 points with 49% of efficiency in attack. With this win PGE Skra asserts its intention and credentials to finish first in the group at the end of the prelims with Dinamo having to play for finishing second and hence get a chance to advance to the Playoffs 12.
“As we expected our opponents had come to Moscow with the intention to score another win” said Dinamo head coach Yuri Cherednik. “We lost to a strong team. Skra has a great roster and is quite evidently one of the best teams in Europe. Our injured players are gradually getting in shape which is extremely important even though Kurek could not yet show his best tonight. Peter Veres still has to resume training. We know we have to edge Fenerbahce here in Moscow and Tomis in Romania to finish second in the group. The task is difficult but we will work to fix our problems and achieve our goal” he concluded.
