BERLIN Recycling Volleys out for compensation against Budvanska Rivijera
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men

Berlin, Germany, November 11, 2012. BERLIN Recycling Volleys strive for a successful international comeback when taking on Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA in the third round of action of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League this Tuesday having experienced a tough loss as they failed against Generali UNTERHACHING in the round of the last sixteen of the national cup earlier this week.
Being defeated by the Bavarians this Wednesday, the side of BERLIN has to cope with its first serious setback of the season; however, there is no time to nurse wounds. “The cup defeat was of course pretty painful, especially as we’ve been longing for competing in the final since 2005. All the more, we now want to focus on the two remaining competitions – Bundesliga and Champions League – giving our best to make to it the Playoffs of Europe’s most elitist club competition”, club President Kaweh Niroomand says.

Taking on Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA this Tuesday, BERLIN Recycling Volleys aim at getting back on track in Pool B. Having a record of one win (against Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE) and one loss (to Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK), the team around captain Scott Touzinsky does not take the up-coming match against the four-time national champion of Montenegro too easily. “With two losses BUDVA had a bad start in this year’s Champions League campaign. But that’s especially the reason why I believe they will give hundred per cent against us as that’s probably their last chance to come through the prelims”, head coach Mark Lebedew says. Besides, the Australian mentor expects a well-known opposite to give his team a hard time: “We’ve met Oliver Venno when he played last year for VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN. He’s a pretty good player and constantly caused difficulties to our side. Definitely, we have to be careful on Tuesday”, the coach adds.

In its national campaign BUDVA started out with three wins out of three games, having recently scored a clear 3:0 victory against OK Buducnost PODGORICA. BERLIN on the other side had to go to five sets this Saturday when claiming its fifth win in Germany’s Bundesliga against evivo DÜREN (25-20, 21-25, 28-30, 25-20, and 15-9) defending the top of the table.
