Lokomotiv downs Budvanska Rivijera in straight sets even without its stars
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men

Budva, Montenegro, October 24, 2012. Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA was downed in straight sets by Russia’s Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK tonight at local “Mediterranean Sports Center” with some 1'000 fans in attendance (18-25, 24-26, and 23-25) for the first round of action in Pool B of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men.
Even though Lokomotiv had traveled to Budva with a “B” team, still the guests were routed in three sets. The local fans were hoping for a positive result for Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA especially after learning that Lokomotiv did not bring their best players for this opening round but still the hosts could not stand the quality and consistency delivered by the Russian side.
That was the first match at this level also for home coach Sinisa Reljic and BUDVA played a little better after Marko Vujovic joined the game, especially after setter Veljko Petkovic and opposite Oliver Venno did not find the right coordination and understanding in the first set. Lokomotiv easily dominated the scene in the first set (25-18) with Ilya Zhilin and Filipp Voronkov comfortably finding a way through the block of Budvanska Rivijera. Via some good options chosen by head coach Reljic, the second set was much closer but eventually the guests from Russia could bring it home with a good final rush (26-24). In the third set the score remained tight up to 22 all – after Cuk, Maksimovic and Dukic had joined the game – but once more Budvanska Rivijera missed its chance to call at least for a fourth set and lost the game with a 0:3.
