Jury pays visit to copy of Graceland before actions start again in Randers
2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship - Men
Randers, Denmark, August 28, 2012. As the teams enjoyed their rest day by visiting the local rainforest, the members of the CEV Jury and international referees attending Pool II also got their day off and were eventually brought to see a copy of Elvis Presley’s house, Graceland, which is situated just nearby Randers.
The house is almost identical to the one in Memphis, Tennessee, and boasts one of the largest private collections of Elvis memorabilia in the world. Such objects all belong to a local collector and die-hard fan of “the King of Rock and Roll”.
“I am not a real fan of Elvis Presley but it was nice to visit this copy of Graceland here in Randers as well as the collection of special items brought together by this fan. As you travel to Volleyball competitions, you normally get to see only airports, hotels and sports halls. It is nice that we have some time to have a look around here in Randers” says Poland’s referee Piotr Krol.
The competition at Skyline Arena is set to resume this afternoon with Denmark playing Pool leader Spain at 3 pm in an attempt to possibly make it to the next phase of the competition; with another win, Spain would be sure of a spot in the semis. Bulgaria and Turkey will cross their ways with the second place in the standings at stake while the program will be rounded out by the still winless Germany playing Greece.
