All coaches look forward to unique experience at Parken stadium
2013 CEV VELUX Volleyball European Championship - Men

Copenhagen, Denmark, September 27, 2013. By the time Parken stadium was being turned into a Volleyball arena, the four coaches of the teams set to play for glory this weekend did share their expectations and feelings waiting for the semis of the 2013 CEV VELUX EuroVolley coming up on Saturday afternoon. Russia and Serbia will open the program at 3 pm while Italy and Bulgaria will cross their ways in the second semifinal scheduled for 6 pm. A live gallery of these matches will be available right here. A detailed TV schedule is available in the PDF file attached here below.

“It is exciting to see that so many media are attending this press conference. It means that there is a lot of interest in the final weekend of the EuroVolley. Italy has made the semis after going for the longer way” said head coach Mauro Berruto. “The team had to stand many problems but this is quite a common trend for Italy. That said it is exciting that we have the chance to play for a medal. I am happy that we also have the chance to be part of this historic weekend as Parken stadium is being transformed into a Volleyball arena and my players are all eager to discover how it feels to play in a soccer stadium”.

“We are happy for being in the semis, especially with such young team” said Serbia mentor Igor Kolakovic. “My players are very excited and look forward to playing the gold medalists from the London Olympics and this year’s FIVB World League. Of course our goal is to make the final match”.

“I am very satisfied that we made the final four here in Copenhagen. We also went for the longest road and had to win a couple of very tough matches with Poland and Germany” said Bulgaria head coach Camillo Placi. “The team did already show earlier this year that we are very competitive and that we belong to the world’s elite. We have finished in fourth place already three times (at the London Olympics as well as in the 2012 and 2013 edition of the World League), so this time we want to travel back home with a medal”.

“We have made the final round after playing in a very strong preliminary group, so I am very happy about this” said Russia mentor Andrey Voronkov. “Of course we want to win another gold medal but we know that this is going to be very difficult as very strong teams have made the last stage of this European Championship. This is the first time we play in a soccer stadium and I believe this is going to be a very special experience for the fans and the players. We are really looking forward to it”.
