Oranjes and France to cross their ways in the semis
2012 Olympic Games - European Qualification

Poreč, Croatia, November 11, 2011. The Netherlands and France qualified this afternoon for the semifinals of the Olympic pre-qualification tournament in Poreč and on Saturday will be crossing their ways there while Croatia and Israel complete the grid for the second match.
The “Oranjes” had a really easy task with Greece finishing it off with a speedy 3:0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-9); “At this moment the Netherlands are too strong for us. I am sorry we could not play better than we did today; we made too many mistakes and I hope we’ll come back stronger in the near future” stated Greece’s head coach Dimitris Floros. “This result does not come as a surprise; we could not do much to stop such a strong Dutch side” added team captain Nikoletta Koutouxidou. While Dutch star Manon Flier confirmed that she will be ready for the final match after nursing a knee injury, her mentor Bert Goedkoop commented: “We just needed some time to find our rhythm in the opening set but the remainder of the match was easy. We are happy that we qualified for the semis as the first ranked team of our group”.

In the other match of the day France did also edge Sweden in straight sets (25-16, 25-11, 25-15). “We will do our best to cause a surprise in the semifinal with the Netherlands” stressed head coach Fabrice Vial. “Our match with Sweden was pretty easy”. After losing two matches in a row the girls from Stockholm are going to travel back home. “We just could not handle their service” commented Sweden’s mentor Tina Nygren.
