Noliko MAASEIK appoints new head coach
News from the clubs
Maaseik, Belgium, April 11, 2012. Brecht Van Kerckhove is the new head coach of Belgium’s Noliko MAASEIK. After spending the last few years assisting and supporting Vital Heynen, Van Kerckhove gradually developed into an excellent coach and was evidently more than pleased with this appointment. “This is a unique opportunity and I am happy to be given the chance to guide a top team like Noliko. I realize this is going to be a real challenge but I am confident as I will be enjoying the full support of the staff as well as of Vital, who will remain close to the club as an advisor” says Van Kerckhove.
After playing for several teams competing in Belgium’s national league, the former setter and now 35-year old Van Kerckhove joined forces with Noliko back in 2008. Apart from assisting Heynen there in Maaseik, this year he also coached STV Netwerk TILBURG, a club that finished third in the first division of the Dutch national league. Van Kerckhove will be assisted by Stefan Hübner, a former international player who spent quite many years in Italy and throughout his career totaled 245 caps with Germany’s national team. Hübner was recently added to the coaching staff of that side by the German Volleyball Federation, assisting there Vital Heynen starting with the Olympic qualifier which is scheduled for early May in Sofia.
