Noliko advances to finals of national league and qualifies for 2013 Champions League
News from the clubs
Maaseik, Belgium, March 22, 2012. Noliko MAASEIK qualified this Wednesday for the final of Belgium’s national league after scoring a clear 3:1 win to edge Topvolley Precura Schelde-Natie ANTWERPEN. The second finalist is not yet known as three rounds of the Playoffs are still left and one between Euphony ASSE-LENNIK and Topvolley ANTWERPEN will be the side that will challenge Noliko for the real climax of the domestic season.
Precura was significantly sidelined by the absence of their opposite, Denmark’s Mads Ditlevsen, and Austrian middle blocker, Peter Wohlfahrtstätter, who are both injured and hence could not play. In spite of this ANTWERPEN claimed the opening set with the score of 27-25 while Noliko did pocket the second after a very close run (25-22). Set three and four were totally dominated by the guys mentored by Vital Heynen who finished their job with a double 25-16.
“We have achieved another goal and we are happy with this as this game was not easy at all, and especially the first two sets” commented Heynen after the match with Precura. “With this win the club has also pocketed a ticket for next year’s CEV Volleyball Champions League while we need to claim only another point out of the next three matches to secure a very favorable position for the final”.
