Stade Poitevin POITIERS plays Italian heavyweight CUNEO to maintain leadership in Pool D
2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men

Poitiers, France, December 11, 2011. Some six weeks after beating Germany’s Generali UNTERHACHING to turn into the undisputed leader of Pool D, Stade Poitevin POITIERS is about to play host to Italy’s heavyweight Bre Banca Lannutti CUNEO for the third round of action in the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League.
And in order to set up the right pre-conditions for a memorable Volleyball night, the local exhibition hall in Poitiers has been turned into a sports hall where some 3’000 fans will be able to cheer on their heroes. Although the home guys are the provisional leaders of the group, CUNEO remains the favorite in this clash and hence Stade Poitevin will be able to play without too much pressure.
POITIERS suffered of the break due to the Olympic pre-qualifiers with 4 foreign players going back to their respective countries, but the last couple of rounds in the national league have helped coach Olivier Lecat get back the right chemistry and team work.
If Stade Poitevin claims the match scheduled for this Tuesday, the qualification for the Playoffs 12 will not be that far; on the other hand, the Italians surely want to redeem for their home defeat to the Czechs of Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE and get back on track already via this game against the leader of France’s national league.
