VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN: good feelings and high expectations
2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men

Friedrichshafen, Germany, October 24, 2011. With a mixture of good feelings and high expectations German champion VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN is looking forward to the first home match in the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League against Belgium’s Euphony ASSE-LENNIK coming up on Wednesday, October 26.
“We have been improving from match to match”, says local captain Joao José. “On Wednesday we want to show our best performance since the start of the season”. Being sick the Portuguese player did not participate in the first match played last week against Russian champion Zenit KAZAN. “I am really happy that I am back” he states.
With confidence the Germans look forward to the match against ASSE-LENNIK which takes part in Europe’s most prestigious club competition for the first time. The home guys are well prepared. After a nice match but eventually a defeat in Kazan, they impressed with a strong performance and a straight victory last weekend in the German Bundesliga against evivo DÜREN. “We become better and better”, says middle blocker Matthew Denmark. “I believe that we can use our home advantage and play well on Wednesday. Our goal is winning three points”.
Also the guests from Belgium arrive with big self-confidence. In the national league the team of head coach Marko Klok has won five of six matches so far and got a fantastic debut in the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League with a victory over Remat ZALAU. For Klok the match at the Lake of Constance is a return to a former club. From 1995 to 1997 the former Dutch international played for the VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN.
“It is a team with good players”, says local head coach Stelian Moculescu about the opponent and reveals the tactic of his team. “We need a good service to bring the reception into problems”, he says. “So the setter is forced to play high balls which would be easier to control for our blocking and defense system”.
