Remat ZALAU gets ready to face mighty Zenit KAZAN
2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men
Zalau, Romania, October 23, 2011. The Romanian team of Remat ZALAU has started the countdown for its second match in the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League thereby preparing to test out the likes of Russian champion and last year’s runner-up Zenit KAZAN. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25, at “Lascăr Pană” sports hall in Baia Mare. The host town of all home matches to be played this year by Remat ZALAU is the city of Baia Mare as the local sports hall in Zalau is being renewed.
This is likely to be a tough game for Remat, considering that Zenit KAZAN is currently the third ranked Volleyball team in the world after seizing bronze at the 2011 FIVB Men’s Club World Championship that were completed two weeks ago in Doha, Qatar. Moreover, Zenit comes after a superb straight victory against VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, whereas Remat lost the five set battle against the newcomers from Belgium of Euphony ASSE-LENNIK.
However, the players of Remat ZALAU are quite confident before their clash with the Russians from Tatarstan, hoping that their supporters from Zalau and Baia Mare will be rewarded with a great show and a good result.
“Zenit KAZAN is one of the best teams in the world, but we will try to deliver our best on the court” stated Remat’s captain, Zoltan Mozer. “We know that this will be a hard match, but we need points in the Champions League. After the defeat in Belgium, we have to focus on this game and try to face the Russians fearless” he added.
Remat ZALAU’s head coach, Mariusz Sordyl, said that “Zenit is constantly having good results. They are for sure the favorite team in Pool B. But we need to think that we have our own chance and we can play a good game. We aren’t afraid of the match, we have worked a lot for our Champions League and national league matches, so we are quite satisfied with this side of our preparation. Moreover, we have to appreciate the fact that we have the possibility to play with Zenit KAZAN. This game is an important lesson for us”.
