Semifinals matchups locked in for the Champions League
CEV Champions League Volley 2021

Luxembourg, March 4, 2021. Unlike the first two matchdays, the Champions League quarterfinals ended Thursday night without a golden set. Trentino, Busto Arsizio, Zenit Kazan, & Novara, took care of business and closed out their series, and all were the team that won the first match as well. We now have all of our CEV Champions League Volley 2021 semifinals matchups. 

For the men: Zenit Kazan vs Grupa Azoty Kedzierzyn-Kozle & Itas Trentino vs Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia.

For the women:  Igor Gorgonzola Novara vs A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano & VakifBank Istanbul vs Unet e-work Busto Arsizio.

Eight elite teams that will battle it out for the right to compete in the superfinals taking place in Verona, Italy on May 1. 

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul (TUR) vs Unet e-work Busto Arsizio (ITA) 1- 3 (23-25, 22-25, 25-22, 26-28)

Unet e-work Busto Arsizio secured their spot in the semifinals by defeating Eczacıbaşı VitrA 3-1 in the 2nd Leg of the quarterfinals. The Italian team came to Istanbul with a great advantage in their pockets as they won the 1st Leg at home 3-1. It’s the third time Busto Arsizio have reached the semifinals in as many participations in the competition. 

Jovana Stevanovic had 4 blocks and 2 aces in the match for overall 13 points. 

VakifBank Istanbul (TUR) vs Grupa Azoty Chemik Police (POL) 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-13)

There wasn’t any doubt as to which team was going to the semifinals this Thursday. VakifBank were on top of their game and didn’t give Grupa Azoty Chemik POLICE any chance of causing an upset. The Turkish team extend their winning streak in the Champions League to 15 matches.

Isabelle Haak led the match in scoring with 19 points on a blistering 17/28 attacking. 

Trentino Itas (ITA) vs Berlin Recycling Volleys (GER) 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-14)

Trentino took on the German club without dropping a set in this one, booking their ticket to the semifinals with a strong team performance. 

Nimir Abdel-Aziz was named MVP after scoring a match-high 12 points (playing in two sets only). His statistics included 1 ace, 1 block, 10 kills and 67% of success in attack.

Zenit Kazan (RUS) vs PGE Skra Belchatow (POL) 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 25-17, 13-25, 15-12)

Six-time #CLVolleyM champions Zenit KAZAN stay in quest for another crown. After defeating PGE Skra BEŁCHATÓW 3-1 in Poland last week, they needed to win only two more sets to book a highly-coveted spot in the semifinals. Thus, Zenit KAZAN extend their outstanding record reaching the #CLVolleyM semi-finals for the 11th time. In the semifinal they will face another Polish club - Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN KOŹLE.

Zenit Kazan scored 11 blocks in the match. 

CEV Champions League Volley 2021 semifinals start on March 16.
