Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN KOŹLE, A. Carraro Imoco CONEGLIANO and Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA reach Champions League semis
CEV Champions League Volley 2021 - Quarterfinals

Luxembourg, March 3, 2021. The top European club competition has accustomed us to crazy comebacks, especially after having witnessed the feat of Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA in yesterday's match. Another Golden Set decided which men's team between Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN KOŹLE and Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA should reach the semifinals. In the women's competition, A. Carraro Imoco CONEGLIANO and Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA leave no space for their opponents and win the two sets necessary to qualify for the next round.

Men

Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN KOŹLE reached the semi-finals of the Champions League after beating their opponent Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA in a thrilling Golden Set. After winning their first encounter in this phase of the competition, the Polish team needed to win two sets to secure their place in the next round. Despite having the court advantage, Kędzierzyn Koźle fell short against the Italians, who won the match in straight sets. The Golden Set (16-14) proved the most competitive between both teams as they fought point by point until an ace by Lukasz Kaczmarek cashed the second set point for Kędzierzyn Koźle to seal the deal with an ace. Benjamin Toniutti was named MVP of the match.

Women

The defending #CLVolleyW champions from Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA secured their spot in the semi-finals of Europe’s elite competition as on Wednesday they recorded a second 3-1 victory against the team of Fenerbahçe Opet ISTANBUL. For Novara, this is the second time in their history to be among the four best teams of the continent, and first time when they seize a home victory against a Turkish team in the Playoff phase.

NOVARA completely controlled the game during the first two sets, showing better play in all the components and higher level of determination. The Italians showed excellent skills on the serve and performed like a well-oiled machine, deservedly continuing their journey in the competition. Fenerbahçe, on the other hand, had some troubles during the week and could not count on their captain Eda Erdem.

A. Carraro Imoco CONEGLIANO continue their winning streak in the Champions League, after beating Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI in their second quarter-final meeting this season. Both teams were known for delivering five-set battles when facing each other in this competition, with the first leg encounter being no different in that respect. But Conegliano proved to be determined to secure their semi-final spot without challenges, as they delivered a flawless straight-set result against their fellow Italian team. Kimberly Hill was named MVP of the match, scoring 13 winning spikes with 45% efficiency. On the other side of the net, Magdalena Stysiak scored 13 points for Scandicci.
