Monza hosts Obrenovac in the first match of their semifinal
After gaining third place in the regular season of the Italian Championship, their best position ever, the rosablùs led by Marco Gaspari will try to take charge of the first match of the series against the Serbian champions, trying to reach the second European Final of their history after the triumph in the CEV Challenge Cup in 2019. Block and defense plus great continuity in attack, are the qualities displayed by the Italians in the home Bio Bubble at the end of January, useful for winning first against the Hungarians of Bekescsaba 3-0 in the 8th finals and then against the Serbian team of Zok Ub in a comeback 3-1 in the 4th finals.
On the other side of the Italian net there will be Tent Obrenovac - who is currently second in the Serbian league, five points away from the team that Monza eliminated in the previous round, Zok UB. The club led by Milan Grsic, eliminated in the Champions League preliminaries by Scandicci and subsequently landed in the CEV Cup where it is making its third appearance, is fresh from the defeat in the Serbian Cup in front of Zeleznicar Lajkovac in the return of the semifinal. The players from Tent Obrenovac will therefore be motivated to give their all to react and try to get closer to the final.
Two teams from Russia in the Men's Semifinals
With Zenit St Petersburg and Dinamo Moscow present in the semifinals of the CEV Volleyball Cup, Russian fans will be fancying their chances of one of these two teams winning the trophy. However, the experienced team of VC Greenyard Maaseik, who eliminated Zenit Kazan last season in the CEV Champions League Volley 4th Round before the competition was stopped, and the French from Montpellier Castelnau UC will be looking at making the most out of their trips to Russia before the return leg on home soil.
The return matches of both the women and men's CEV Volleyball Cup Semifinals are scheduled to take place next week.
