06/04/2021 20:00 Swiss national teams set sights on EuroVolley qualifiers News from the National Federations Bern, Switzerland, April 6, 2021. After a further cancellation of the tournaments originally scheduled for last summer and postponed to early January, the Swiss national teams will now contest their respective EuroVolley qualifiers in early May, with the men travelling to Slovakia and Romania, while the women will play their tournament in Belarus. The men’s team coached by Mario Motta will play in Slovakia first (6-8 May), followed by a second round robin tournament in Romania (14-16 May). Since they feature in a pool of three teams only, the Swiss women coached by Saskia van Hintum will play all of their matches in Belarus (10-15 May). Both teams will have training camps in Schönenwerd in April and May in order to prepare as best as possible for their qualifiers. They will also play two test matches each: the men will travel to and take on Hungary on May 1 and 2, while the women will be hosting Spain in Schönenwerd on May 3 and 5. Anne-Sylvie Monnet, Volleyball Performance Sport and Training Manager at Swiss Volley, is looking forward to May: “Of course we hope that both teams will qualify for the European Championship. To achieve this feat, our women will have to place first or second in their group, which is quite within their reach. The men will also fight to be able to represent Switzerland at European level in September. For this, they must at least take second place in their group and be one of the best five runners-up across the seven pools. It will not be an easy task, but I believe in Mario Motta and his team.” The women's national team has added new players to the extended roster for the EuroVolley qualifiers, namely Alix De Micheli, Oriane Hämmerli, Jasmin Kuch and Lisa Müller. As for the men, they also have new members in their ranks: Ramon Diem, Piero Müller and Stig Döös Traagstad.

After a further cancellation of the tournaments originally scheduled for last summer and postponed to early January, the Swiss national teams will now contest their respective EuroVolley qualifiers in early May, with the men travelling to Slovakia and Romania, while the women will play their tournament in Belarus.

The men’s team coached by Mario Motta will play in Slovakia first (6-8 May), followed by a second round robin tournament in Romania (14-16 May). Since they feature in a pool of three teams only, the Swiss women coached by Saskia van Hintum will play all of their matches in Belarus (10-15 May).
