Minchanka MINSK secure #CEVCupW quarterfinal spot
CEV Volleyball Cup 2020 - Women

Brčko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, February 5, 2020. Minchanka MINSK of Belarus secured on Tuesday night their spot in the quarterfinals of the CEV Volleyball Cup 2020 – Women after claiming a 3-1 away victory (25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-15) at ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRČKO to go with their 3-0 home success from two weeks ago.

With some 500 spectators in attendance, the home team put up a real fight, but the more experienced players from the Belarusian capital eventually had the upper hand. Home star Andjelka Radiskovic top scored in the match with 19 points, as Olga Bogdanova scored 16 times for Minchanka.

Elena Babic, opposite of ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo: “We had the honour of hosting such a strong team as Minchanka; we put up a fight but it was not enough for us to win. I nevertheless hope that the fans are still proud of us.”

Matea Vujicic, libero of ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo: “I thank the team for giving me the opportunity to enter the game, because as a young player I felt the honour of playing in the CEV Cup – and I think I showed that on the court.”

“The home team is very young and they still need a lot of matches against stronger teams to gain that experience, but they for sure have a bright future ahead,” said the team manager of Minchanka MINSK, Vera Frankevich.
