Luxembourg, November 14, 2019. Portugal's champions Benfica LISBOA have qualified for Round 3 of the CEV Champions League Volley 2020 - Men by beating OK BUDVA (MNE) in four sets. The home team had far the better start by winning the opening set 25-15, but the Portugese swept the three sets that followed. The 3-1 win on Thursday was enough to see them through to Round 3, where they will play Mladost ZAGREB for one coveted spot in the #CLVolleyM group stage.
OK BUDVA (MNE) vs. Benfica LISBOA (POR) 1-3 (25-15, 21-25, 23-25, 25-27)
- The champions from Montenegro had the best of starts to the match, running away to victory with a 79% attack rate in the opening set, resulting in a 25-15 win.
- The rest of the match was quite balanced, but Benfica were at the positive side of the score at the end of each of them. After reaching a 2-1 lead, they were sure of qualifying for Round 3 of the #CLVolleyM.
- Almost all statistics were in favour of OK BUDVA, but it was the direct errors from the home team that made the difference.
- Opposite Henry Omar Tapia Santana once again was the highest scoring man on court, ashe registered 22 points for BUDVA. Hugo Fernando Lucas Gaspar tallied up 13 for the Portuguese.
- BUDVA move on to the CEV Cup where they will face OK Kakanj 78 KAKANJ of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Benfica will play Mladost ZAGREB (CRO) for one spot in the Champions League pool phase.
