Silver League to feature up-and-coming teams – Check out pool composition!
CEV Volleyball European Silver League 2019
Luxembourg, December 13, 2018. Some of Europe’s up-and-coming teams will feature in the 2019 edition of the CEV Volleyball European Silver League. They will be fighting for the top honours, overall prize money standing at € 156,000 per gender and the rights to move to the Golden League in 2020.
The pool composition reflects the latest European Ranking, i.e. the updated one following the FIVB World Championships held earlier this year in Italy/Bulgaria and Japan. Click here for the latest European Ranking for national teams.
Greece return to the European League stage after a break and will have some tough matches in men’s Pool A against Austria, Hungary and rookies Bosnia and Herzegovina. Romania, who earlier this summer qualified for EuroVolley 2019 for the first time since 1995, will play in Pool B against Denmark, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Romania return to the women’s European League to play Georgia, Israel and newcomers Cyprus in Pool A, while Slovenia lead the charge in Pool B – which features two teams, Portugal and Greece, that back in August secured their ticket to EuroVolley 2019. Estonia return to play in the European League after finishing last year’s competition in fourth place.
The European Silver League will begin on May 25-26 and after a series of home and away matches, four teams - the organisers, the top teams from each pool and the second best across the two pools - will contest the Finals due to take place on June 28-29 and 29-30 for women and men, respectively. The CEV will announce the respective organisers in due course.
The 2019 edition will carry a new logo to reflect the steady and continuous re-branding of all CEV competitions and activities.
