#CEVCup and #ChallengeCup draw – 130 teams ready to take to European stage
2019 European Cups
Luxembourg, June 29, 2018. It was a truly exciting Friday morning at the home of European Volleyball in Luxembourg where the Drawing of Lots for the 2019 edition of the CEV Volleyball Cup and CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup took place shortly after the draw for the early rounds of the CEV Volleyball Champions League. As many as 130 teams waited to know the names of their first opponent on the European stage with the season due to start in early November as per the 2019 European Cups calendar available here.
The 2019 edition of the CEV Volleyball Cup involves 24 men’s and 20 women’s teams plus the losers of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Round fixtures in the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League. The eventual winners will emerge on March 26, 2019.

As for the Challenge Cup, as many as 42 men’s and 44 women’s teams have registered for participation. The competition will be reaching its climax on March 27, 2019 with the ‘big finals’.

Only Olympiacos PIRAEUS of Greece are in line to retain the title they won in 2018 in the women’s Challenge Cup, since the winners of the men’s competition – Italy’s Bunge RAVENNA – did not qualify for the 2019 European Cups. As for the titleholders of the CEV Volleyball Cup, Russia’s Belogorie BELGOROD will contest the CEV Challenge Cup this coming season while Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL will vie for further glory in the elite Champions League.
Overall, as many as 191 teams are contesting the 2019 European Cups, which shows the increasing appeal that international competitions have towards clubs across the whole of Europe, thus accounting for the representation of 34 countries.
