Clash of ex-teammates in Békéscsaba!
2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women

Békéscsaba, Hungary, October 24, 2018. Swietelsky BÉKÉSCSABA and Budowlani LODZ will start their 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women campaign on Thursday afternoon, with their clash taking place at 5 pm CET.

Last season, Sofija Medic and Jovana Brakocevic used to play together for Romania’s C.S.M. BUCURESTI. Brakocevic, who is now a member of Budowlani LODZ, transferred to the Romanian club halfway through the 2017/2018 season and played alongside Sofija Medic, who is currently a key player for Hungary’s multiple national champions Swietelsky BÉKÉSCSABA.

Last season, the two Serbian players made a run in the Romanian Championship and the Romanian Cup as well, as they helped C.S.M. BUCURESTI claim top honours in both competitions. Jovana and Sofija are excited to see each other again but this time they will be standing on opposite sides of the net.

The middle blocker of Swietelsky BÉKÉSCSABA, Sofija Medic, said, “Jovana is a real leader, and she has that killer instinct on the court. Her leadership and self-confidence can really make a difference on the court. On the other hand, she is an extremely friendly person who helps teammates make it to a higher level. I am excited to play against her, I know she is a 20+ point player but I cannot wait to play that good defence against her and get a few blocks!”
