Rookies MONZA braced for re-match with SC Portugal LISBOA
2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men

Luxembourg, March 5, 2019. Vero Volley MONZA have a difficult – yet not impossible – mission on Wednesday when they play SC Portugal LISBOA in the second round of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Men semis. Last week, the Portuguese team came from behind to claim a 3-2 victory in Monza. This means that the hosts of SC Portugal would progress to the last stage of the competition if they win their home match by any score. On the other hand, a 3-0 or 3-1 away win would be enough for MONZA to continue their journey in the competition, whilst a 3-2 victory for the Italian team would call for a Golden Set.

Thomas Beretta & Co. will rely on the strong performance they just delivered in the national league when playing against Azimut Leo Shoes MODENA as they attempt to reach the final in their maiden appearance in the European Cups.

Santiago Orduna, setter of Vero Volley MONZA: “The victory in Modena gave us a boost of confidence. It was especially important for the standing of the national league and for the Playoffs. It was also a mental boost ahead of the match with SC Portugal LISBOA. They have a very experienced team and we will need to be calm but strong at the same time. There is no perfect match: you can make some mistakes, but it will be important to reset after every ball and focus on the next one. That is what I especially liked in Modena last Sunday and I hope we will take this asset with us to Portugal.”
