Rookies Kuzbass poised to play historic #CEVCupM semi-final

Kemerovo, Russia, February 25, 2019. On Tuesday, Russian rookies Kuzbass KEMEROVO will be hosting Turkey’s Galatasaray ISTANBUL in the first round of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men semis. Kuzbass, who are making their maiden appearance in the European Cups, have made it this far after comfortably beating their previous opponents – Montenegro’s Jedinstvo Bemax BIJELO POLJE, Poland’s Indykpol AZS OLSZTYN and Finland’s Ford Store Levoranta SASTAMALA. On the other hand, Galatasaray have emerged victorious from their fixtures with Mladost ZAGREB of Croatia, Dukla LIBEREC of the Czech Republic and Belgium’s Lindemans AALST.
Tuomas Sammelvuo, head coach of Kuzbass: “We know our rivals very well. It is a tough opponent, but this is what you would expect in the semi-finals of the CEV Cup. If they play with a lot of passion, it will be very tough for us. We need to stay focused from the first serve. We should play as we have been playing lately, i.e. with a big heart, and we should fight for every ball. We are doing well and our preparations have gone well too. Now we are finishing the regular season of the national championship, and playing in the semis of the CEV Cup, so every match for us is like a final.”
