#SuperFinalsBerlin a huge party for the whole Volleyball family
CEV Champions League Volley 2019 Super Finals
Luxembourg, May 21, 2019. The historic CEV Champions League Volley 2019 Super Finals held at Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin last Saturday were a true celebration of Volleyball – a party that involved the whole of the Volleyball family. The fans could see many familiar faces on the stands of the ‘Volleyball temple’ – including many star players, coaches, as well as officials.
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° was obviously the most prominent guest, together with the President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, Alfons Hörmann, while the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Michael Müller, attended the opening show and ceremony where he symbolically presented CEV President Aleksandar Boričić with the key of the German capital city.

Italian Volleyball legend Andrea Giani attended the ‘ultimate Volleyball show’ together with almost the full roster of Germany’s national team – travelling a short distance from their training base in Kienbaum to Berlin to witness the Champions League Super Finals. Other (former) stars in attendance included Giba, Andrea Gardini, Ivan Miljkovic, Irina Kirillova, Antonina Zetova, Maja Ognjenovic, György Grozer, Joop Alberda, Bernardo Rezende and Laurent Tillie – to name only a few – to account for an almost endless list of illustrious guests.

Italy’s former Volleyball stars Andrea Zorzi, Samuele Papi, Eleonora Lo Bianco and Maurizia Cacciatori travelled to Berlin to provide live commentary of the Super Finals for rights-holders DAZN.
Moreover, a well more than a dozen Presidents of National Federations accepted the CEV’s invitation to witness a truly unprecedented event in European Volleyball history, taking the emotions and impressions back to their respective countries and a further boost to continue their work to grow the game in close cooperation with the CEV.
The Super Finals have raised the value and status of Volleyball to the next level – and fans can now look forward to the next such experience with EuroVolley taking place across as many as eight countries later this summer.
