The Hague, The Netherlands, July 22, 2018. The setter and captain of Russia Konstantin Abaev was honoured as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2018 CEV U20 Volleyball European Championship - Men. The young play-maker was instrumental in his team’s rise to the championship title, not only with mastering the organisation of the Russian attacks, but also with his scoring skills (seven aces, 15 kill blocks, eight attacks) and most of all with his leadership.
In an exciting closing ceremony in The Hague, Abaev was awarded by CEV Vice President and President of the Jury Margaret Ann Fleming, who also presented the trophy and the gold medals to the team of Russia.
The #EuroVolleyU20M 2018 Dream Team was also announced and awarded during the ceremony, before the three medallist teams, Russia, Czech Republic and Belgium, took to the podium.
