BURSA BBSK and Olympiacos eager to contest #CEVChallengeCupW ‘grand finale’
2018 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women

Bursa, Turkey, April 10, 2018. BURSA BBSK and Olympiacos SFP PIRAEUS will play tomorrow their second matchup in the final stage of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women. The organisers expect a great atmosphere for this ultimate showdown – in a repeat of last year’s final and with BURSA BBSK vying for their third title in the competition in four years. The Turks claimed a 3-2 away victory last week in Greece to have a small advantage before the re-match taking place on home soil.

Angelo Vercesi, head coach of BURSA BBSK: “The victory we claimed last week is a very good result for us. However, we now have to focus on the re-match at home. We have to focus on the technical side of the game – while we expect many supporters to come to the hall. I know that our crazy fans are anxiously waiting for this game. It is a good feeling to know that our team has won the competition two times already. However, when you have a cup already, it raises the motivation to win another one. Therefore, we have to play and win the re-match as well.”

Nilay Özdemir Karaagac, team captain of BURSA BBSK: “We want to thank Olympiacos for their warm welcome last week to Greece and for the experience we had to play a match with their fans on the stands. We hope to be able to enjoy the same experience tomorrow when playing at home. We have a strong opponent but we want to provide our fans with something to cheer about. It is important to win the re-match as well, no matter how the first match ended. I think it will be a much more enjoyable match than the previous one. I expect many supporters to come and root for us – and I am sure that the hall will be filled with red and white flags.”

Branko Kovacevic, head coach of Olympiacos: “I am very pleased with the warm welcome from BURSA BBSK and I can say that we hope to have more luck than we had in the previous matchup. We are playing better and as a result, the second match is going to be better. BURSA BBSK is a completely different team compared to last year – but we have changed our team as well and we have some very good players too. I can say that I expect a great match and a great atmosphere as well. I know the fans here can go crazy as much as ours do.”

Aikaterina Giota, player of Olympiacos: “I am happy to be in Bursa again, as I have been here a few times before. We want to win this cup, so I believe we do have some chances in this second match.”
