Galatasaray and Budowlani open third round of #CLVolleyW group stage
2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women

Luxembourg, January 22, 2018. On Tuesday late afternoon, Galatasaray SK ISTANBUL and Grot Budowlani LODZ will open the programme of the third round in the pool stage of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women.

•    This will be Galatasaray’s first home match in the CEV Volleyball Champions League in four years.
•    Their last home match came in 2014 when Galatasaray lost 0-3 to RC CANNES of France.
•    It is not the first time these teams cross swords in the European Cups. Last year, they played each other in the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup, with Galatasaray storming to 3-1 and 3-0 wins to progress to the semis.
•    However, it is the first time that Galatasaray and Grot Budowlani lock horns in the CEV Volleyball Champions League.
•    Galatasaray lost their season opener in Pool D to city rivals VakifBank (1-3) before pulling out a 3-1 away victory at Dinamo MOSCOW. As for LODZ, they first lost at home to Dinamo (0-3) and two weeks ago lost again to VakifBank in Turkey (1-3).
•    Galatasaray and Grot Budowlani both lost their last matches in their respective national leagues. Galatasaray lost 1-3 to VakifBank as LODZ suffered a 0-3 setback in their matchup with BKS Profi Credit BIELSKO-BIALA.
•    Galatasaray currently sit in fourth place in the Turkish national league – as LODZ are fifth in Poland.

Neslihan Demir Güler, team captain of Galatasaray: “Tomorrow we will play the third match of the group stage and it will be our first home game. Budowlani is an extremely strong team and they have very talented players, so tomorrow we should catch a good start and do our best. On top of this, we know that we must get three points to take a small advantage in our group, so we want to get a clear victory in front of our fans.”
