Dinamo and Galatasaray to lock horns as #CLVolleyW resumes after holiday season
2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women

Luxembourg, January 8, 2018. After the Christmas break, the 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women will resume on Tuesday night with Dinamo MOSCOW hosting Galatasaray SK ISTANBUL for the second round of action in the so-called ‘pool of death’. Dinamo will be trying to claim their second victory in the group whilst Galatasaray will be vying for their first win in a competition they are contesting for the first time since the 2012-2013 season.

Dinamo MOSCOW (RUS) vs. Galatasaray SK ISTANBUL (TUR)

•    This is the home debut for Dinamo MOSCOW in Pool D following their 3-0 away victory over Poland’s Grot Budowlani LODZ shortly before the holiday season.
•    Galatasaray SK ISTANBUL will be vying for their first victory in the Pool after losing 1-3 to titleholders VakifBank ISTANBUL.
•    One of Dinamo’s star players, Elena Gendel is back from injury.

Elena Gendel, middle blocker of Dinamo MOSCOW: “The hardest thing in this comeback is the mental side of it. I am afraid that something will not work out or I am not able to help my team as much as I would like to. After coming back from injury, it is always exciting to take to the court again. We definitely are in the ‘pool of death’ but we are professional athletes and you can still find pros from that. Dinamo KAZAN are in an easy group but they may have problems in the next rounds when the opponent will get a lot stronger. On the other hand, we have to play the best we can right from the pool stage and this could help us get stronger. We are certainly ready to fight.”

Yana Shcherban, player of Dinamo MOSCOW: “We are only thinking about our next match with Galatasaray. We want to use our chances even though we respect the opponent. We will review some videos and work as hard as possible, trying to follow the instructions of our coach.”
