Luxembourg, March 1, 2019. The Drawing of Lots for the quarter-finals of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League held earlier today at the ‘Home of European Volleyball’ in Luxembourg delivered a series of exciting fixtures as Europe’s elite teams fight for their right to make it to the historic Super Finals in Berlin.

The women’s competition is a Turkish, Italian, Russian and German affair, with Turkey and Italy’s dreams of glory relying on as many as three teams for each of these two nations. The competition will continue as follows:



The winners of quarter-final 1 will play against the winners of quarter-final 2 in semi-final 1, while the teams progressing from 3rd and 4th quarter-final will contest semi-final 2.

Title-holders Zenit KAZAN and VakifBank ISTANBUL are still in contention for another crown as they try to improve on their respective all-time records in the competition. Zenit have six titles to their name, including the last four in a row, while VakifBank are four-time winners of the competition and gold medallists from 2017 and 2018 as well.

The men’s quarterfinals feature three teams from Russia, two from Italy and Poland as well as France’s sensation CHAUMONT VB 52 HM who started their campaign back in October in the early rounds. The quarterfinal fixtures read as follows:



As with the women's competition, the winners of quarter-finals 1 and 2 will play against each other in semi-final 1, while 3 and 4 will contest semi-final 2.

After completion of the pool phase earlier this week, the competition will resume on March 12-14 with the first round of matches, with the return fixtures due to follow one week later. The eventual winners will continue their journey in the semis in early April – where they will be a step away only from securing participation in the history-making event due to take place at Max-Schmeling-Halle on May 18.
