CEV confirms dates of 2021 age-group European Beach Volleyball Championships
News from the CEV
Luxembourg, December 21, 2020. After appointing the relevant hosts a while ago, the CEV has now finalised the dates of next year’s age-group Beach Volleyball European Championships, which will provide once again the rising stars of the sport with the opportunity to test their skills in international competition at an early stage of their careers.
#EuroBeachVolleyU22 will open the programme of age-group continental championships in 2021, with the event due to take place at a real Beach Volleyball ‘Mecca’, Baden, Austria, from May 13 to 16. “We are happy with the opportunity to host the next edition of the U22 European Championships and to show again that Austria is committed to the delivery of high-level under age events,” says the President of the Austrian Volleyball Federation (ÖVV), Gernot Leitner. “It has become some sort of a tradition that Baden is a regular host of European Championships, and as a Federation we are proud of having such committed organisers, like the Baden Beachvolleyball Club and Vision05. Under 22 is the last age category before the pro level and we expect to see some high-level Beach Volleyball in the men’s as well as in the women’s competition.”
After playing host to the U18 and U22 continental championships in September of this year, the Turkish city of Izmir will welcome another such tournament by playing host to the 2021 edition of #EuroBeachVolleyU20 from July 8 to 11 of next year. “With a large young population, Izmir is a very promising and ideal city for holding sporting events,” says the Vice-President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, Alper Sedat Aslandas. “We already hosted two age-group European Championships in 2020 with much success and we are happy that more such events will follow next year, always in strict compliance with anti-COVID measures. The event is due to take place in early July of 2021 and we are already getting ready for it. We are grateful for the support of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the CEV and Yeşiltaş Organisation.”
Finally, the U18 competition in Koper, Slovenia will run from September 2 to 5, 2021. The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) will deliver the event in close cooperation with the Beach Volleyball Club Koper and the Volleyball Club from the nearby city of Portorož – and a number of sponsors and partners. “We are very happy that the OZS has recognised the potential of the city of Koper as a perfect place for hosting this event and with the opportunity to support those involved in the organisation,” said the Mayor of Koper, Aleš Bržan. #EuroBeachVolleyU18 will return to Koper after the city on the Adriatic coast played host to the 2004 edition of the very same continental competition.
