Israel to host first, historic World Tour event in Tel Aviv
2019 FIVB World Tour 1-Star - Tel Aviv

Luxembourg, September 18, 2019. Israel and the Israel Volleyball Association (IVA) are looking forward to playing host to a double-gender 1-Star FIVB World Tour event for the first time in history and they will be doing so this coming November 5-9. The event is due to take place in Tel Aviv at Frishman Beach, one of the most popular spots in the cosmopolitan, vibrant largest city of Israel. The area features many bars, restaurants and a lively nightlife. The organisers chose the location specifically in order to attract a crowd as large as possible for such a historic event.

Israel’s top Beach Volleyball players, Sofia Starikov and Anita Dave (ranked 103 in the world), as well as Sean Faiga (former no. 45 in the FIVB ranking) and Netanel Amiram Ohana will take part in the tournament, which will be taking place at the same location where the Israeli Beach Volleyball national championship took place last month. The event will provide a € 10,000 total purse, with € 5,000 at stake per gender.

“We are happy and proud to host a World Tour tournament for the first time, after hosting two editions of the U20 European Championships in 2005 and 2011 and a CEV Continental Cup event in 2015,” said Eviatar Dotan, President of the Israel Volleyball Association. “Playing host to such a tournament is very important for the development of the sport in Israel and in order to raise further awareness, especially one year ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. I wish all the players a lot of fun and a great event to all involved.”
