Teenager Markus Mol playing better and better throughout the tournament
2019 FIVB World Tour 1-Star - Oslo

Oslo, Norway, September 1, 2019. Christian Sandlie Sørum, ranked world number 1, and partner Anders Mol’s younger brother Markus (17) are in the semis of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 1-Star Oslo Open after a 2-0 (21-17, 21-16) victory over Denmark in the quarterfinals.

Sørum is very happy with his new partner. “We had a ten-minute practise together before the tournament started, that’s all. In addition, Markus has a bit of a bad shoulder. Therefore, this result is beyond our expectations. We are playing better and better with each match,” Christian said after the victory over Mads Rosager and Jacob Stein Brinck. It was a win in two straight sets. Much because they made very few mistakes.

“It is fun, that is for sure,” Markus Mol said after the match. He is enjoying himself in front of around 1,500 spectators at Jernbanetorget, which provided an amazing atmosphere during the last eight - and quarterfinals on Saturday. Now, four games remain at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Oslo 1-Star, two semi-finals, a bronze medal match and a finale. There are only Norwegian teams left, so it will be an easy task for the organisers to find the right flags for the victory ceremony on Sunday afternoon…
