Italy, Austria, South Africa and USA claim Main Draw spots in Pinarella di Cervia
2019 World Tour 1-Star - Pinarella di Cervia

Pinarella di Cervia, Italy, July 25, 2019. The World Tour 1-Star event in Pinarella di Cervia started on Thursday with the qualification round where teams from Austria, Italy, South Africa and USA eventually secured their spot in the Main Draw. The competition resumes on Friday at 10:30 am with Main Draw action continuing until 10 pm with the last matches played under floodlights.

The fans in attendance – as much as the players competing in the qualification round – had to endure challenging weather conditions, with temperatures reaching 35° C.

Fabrizio Manni/Carlo Bonifazi (pictured), the only Italian team involved in the qualification round, claimed a ticket to the Main Draw after edging Czech Republic’s Martin Sramek and Jakub Gala 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) in their second match of the day. The other teams progressing to the Main Draw are Austria’s Florian Ertl/Johannes Kratz, South Africa’s Grant Goldschmidt/Leo Williams and USA’s Michael Boag and Timothy Brewster.

The local Organising Committee – composed by Caponigri Srl, PowerBeach and BeachVolleyUniversity – have confirmed that entrance to the 2,000-seat Beach Volleyball stadium will be available for free on Friday as well.
