Teams ready to compete in Alba Adriatica
2019 World Tour 1-Star - Alba Adriatica

Alba Adriatica, Italy, July 11, 2019. Despite the challenging weather conditions on the Adriatic coast, teams due to play at the 1-Star World Tour event in Alba Adriatica have tested their skills before the competition officially begins on Friday with the qualification round. The organisers worked until late at night on Wednesday to test the floodlights that they will be using for the late matches at Europa Acciai Beach Arena.

The Belgian team Sarah Cools/Lisa Van Den Vonder and the Japanese tandem Mayu Sawame and Miyu Sakamoto have had their first sessions at the warm-up court already in order to familiarise with the conditions and recover from their journey to Italy.

As many as 16 teams will contest the qualification round, with four eventually progressing to the Main Draw. These include Italy’s Giulia Toti/Silvia Leonardi and Jessica Jenifer Luca/Eleonora Annibalini. The Main Draw will follow on Saturday and the competition will be reaching its climax on Sunday. Teams from 3 continents and 16 nations are due to compete in Alba Adriatica later this week.
