International Beach Volleyball returns to London - and it’s free to watch the action
2018-2020 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup
London, England, May 24, 2019. International Beach Volleyball returns to the UK for the first time since the London 2012 Olympics – the England men’s and women’s teams will be in action as they start the road to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The CEV Continental Cup - Round One tournament will take place at Leyton’s Feel Good Too centre on Saturday and Sunday. Doors will be open from 9am and matches will take place throughout the day until around 6pm. A range of local food traders will be on site and drinks will be available from Signature Brew, a Leyton-based brewery.
The England women’s team consists of two pairs: Jess Grimson with Vicky Palmer, and Ellie Austin partnering Anaya Evans (pictured above), ranked 105 and 679 in Europe respectively. They will face France, Belarus, and Northern Ireland.
Issa Batrane is one of four players due to represent England in the men's competition on home sand.
The men’s team is Javier Bello with Phil Smith, and Chris Gregory with Issa Batrane. They will face the Swiss and Armenian teams.
If you are interested in catching some international sport for free this weekend, head to Feel Good Too in Leyton on Ive Farm Lane, Leyton, E10 5LX – the nearest tube station is Leyton, on the Central line, which is a ten minute walk. The nearest Overground station, Lea Bridge Road, is also a ten-minute walk.
Alternatively, the 58 and 158 buses go past the site – the best stop for Feel Good Too is Villiers Close.
