Eight countries to host #CEVContinentalCup first phase on the #RoadToTokyo
2018-2020 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup

Luxembourg, December 18, 2018. Eight countries, eight venues and a lot of enthusiasm to start chasing the Olympic dream on the road that takes to Tokyo 2020. The 2018-2020 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup will get underway in May and June of next year with eight first-round events spreading the Olympic ‘spirit’ to nations as diverse as Croatia, Cyprus, England, Georgia, Greece, Ireland, Slovenia and Serbia.

The first stage of the CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup will be taking place at the following venues:
-    Zagreb (CRO), venue TBC
-    Finikoudes Beach, Larnaca (CYP)
-    Feel Good Too Centre, London (ENG)
-    Batumi Beach Sport Stadium, Batumi (GEO)
-    Karavi Sports Club, Schinias (GRE)
-    Bettystown Beach, Bettystown (IRL)
-    Portoroz (SLO)
-    Novi Sad (SRB)

Portoroz will officially open the CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup on May 11-12 followed by the events in Larnaca and London two weeks later (May 25-26). The Olympic qualifying event will visit Ireland for the very first time on June 1-2 stopping in Bettystown, 40km north of Dublin City Centre, before Novi Sad follows suit a week later. Croatia and Greece will be playing host to their respective events on June 22-23 before Batumi and Georgia wrap it up in late June for yet another historic competition on the shores of the Black Sea.

Alexander Huber and Robin Seidl of Austria were the winners of the 2016 CEV Continental Cup Final in Stavanger, Norway.

Teams from as many as 42 National Federations will contest the 2018-2020 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup in an effort to fulfil their dream of participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It is a truly impressive figure as the CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup takes place for the third time in history, following previous editions that qualified teams for the 2012 and 2016 Olympics in London and Rio de Janeiro, respectively.

After the first phase in May/June 2019, the second stage will follow in May 2020 with the Finals scheduled for June 2020. The CEV have launched the bidding process and invited National Federations to come forward with their plans to host a single our double-gender Olympic qualifying event.

The organiser(s) of the Final(s) will participate in the 16-team final stage of the competition bypassing the first and second phase. Athletes who by that time have already qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through the relevant FIVB Olympic Ranking / the 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships and the FIVB Beach Volleyball Olympic qualifier will not be eligible to compete in the Final(s).
