International competition returns to Poreč with 1-Star event
2018 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Poreč

Poreč, Croatia, July 5, 2018. A 1-Star event is taking place from Thursday to Sunday at Green Lagoon in Poreč, Croatia, where the sky is blue and the weather conditions are simply ideal for the organisation of an international Beach Volleyball tournament.

The competition starts on Thursday with the qualifications, while the Main Draw is due to commence on Friday early morning. There are four spots at stake in each gender to complete the Main Draw as international competition returns to the Croatian coastal city after Poreč hosted a Major Series event for the last few years.

Latvian experienced players Toms Smedins and Haralds Regza are the top seeds in the men’s tournament, while the Makhno twins from Ukraine – Inna and Iryna – lead the way for the women’s entries. Aleyna Vence, a silver medallist from this year’s European Snow Volleyball Championship, is contesting the tournament as well together with Merve Nezir – with whom she won bronze a couple of weeks ago at another 1-Star event in Manavgat, Turkey.

Croatia have as many as four teams per gender seeded in the Main Draw.
