Teams from five countries progress to Poreč Main Draw
2018 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Poreč

Poreč, Croatia, July 5, 2018. The 1-Star World Tour tournament in Poreč started on Thursday with the qualification round, featuring a number of close, exciting matches, whose eventual winners progressed to the Main Draw.

Teams from Slovenia, Austria and Norway comfortably made it to the next stage of the men’s competition, while Czech Republic’s David Lenc/Patrik Manas had to fight for three sets before edging Serbia’s Djordje Klasnic/Marko Plavsic (24-22, 20-22, 15-12).

The most exciting and dramatic match of the women’s qualification round featured Italy’s Alice Gradini and Claudia Puccinelli vs. Emily Sonny and Torrey Van Winden (USA). In the end, the Americans as well as teams from Austria and the Czech Republic secured their spot in the Main Draw.

Many more quality matches are coming up on Friday with the start of the Main Draw at the beautiful venue set up in Poreč. With this tournament, the city of Poreč once again is proving that it is certainly one of the best Beach Volleyball destinations in Europe and that players are always happy to return there.
