Göteborg to host men’s European Satellite for second straight year
2018 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Göteborg

Luxembourg, January 26, 2018. The ‘indoor phase’ of the 2018 European Beach Volleyball season will end in late March in Sweden when the city of Göteborg plays host to a European men’s-only Satellite for the second straight year. The competition will take place at the world’s largest Beach Volleyball arena from March 29 to April 1 after the very successful premiere the organisers celebrated in April 2017.

The Göteborg Beachvolley Club and the Swedish Volleyball Federation will once again welcome a good share of Europe’s Beach Volleyball elite after the same venue played host to a double-gender NEVZA zonal event in early November 2017.

Last year’s Satellite was a huge success and everyone involved – players, officials, media – praised the excellent level of the local organisation. France’s Arnaud Gauthier-Rat and Arnaud Loiseau were the eventual winners of the competition with Russia’s Alexander Likholetov/Ilya Leshukov and Turkey’s Murat Giginoglu/Safa Urlu completing the podium.

The organisers expect a large crowd to attend the 2018 edition of the eagerly anticipated European event as well – as Sweden’s top teams enjoy the unique opportunity to perform at the highest level in front of family and friends.

The 2018 European Beach Volleyball season started in early January with the highly successful European Masters organised in Pelhrimov, Czech Republic, featuring a number of the world’s top teams where Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meeuwsen of the Netherlands and home stars Kristyna Kolocova/Michala Kvapilova claimed the top honours.
