Historic CEV Beach Volleyball events soon underway in Kharkiv
2017 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Kharkiv

Kharkiv, Ukraine, July 6, 2017. Before the start of two international tournaments, i.e. the 2017 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite Kharkiv and the CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Continental Cup – Pool B, which will take place in Kharkiv from July 7 to 9, the organisers addressed the media at a press conference, stressing the importance of these events for the development of Beach Volleyball in Ukraine.

“This is my first visit to Ukraine and I am pleased with the beauty of this country. I think that Kharkiv is ready to hold this kind of international tournaments. There is a very professional team here and the organisers are well ready to host a high-level tournament,” said CEV Technical Supervisor Magdalena Smiecinska.

“Such high-level competition takes place in Kharkiv for the first time and we will do our best to deliver it in the best possible way. The tournament is a very prestigious one. I believe that the Ukrainian teams stand a chance of achieving good results,” Tournament Director Valery Zadorozhnyi said.

“The number and level of the teams taking part in the tournament have surpassed our expectations. After all, on the courts of Gorky Park, the fans will be able to follow some of the leading European teams, including winners from past European and World Championships. We also hope that the Ukrainian teams participating in the Continental Cup will be able to use the home-court advantage to make it to the final stage of the competition that will be qualifying to the 2018 Youth Olympic Games,” Oleksandr Samsonyuk,  Beach Volleyball Coordinator at the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation, said.

“We set the highest possible goals for ourselves. Our minimum goal is to stand on the podium. It is very good that such international tournaments take place in Ukraine, which means that Beach Volleyball in this country is developing,” said home star Sergiy Popov who will compete in Kharkiv together with Oleksii Denin.

The competition in Kharkiv will start on Friday afternoon at 2 pm local time.
