Kharkiv braced to host first CEV-sanctioned Beach Volleyball events later this week

Kharkiv, Ukraine, July 3, 2017. The Ukrainian city of Kharkiv will be hosting later this week two international Beach Volleyball events – a men’s CEV Satellite and one of the few tournaments on schedule for the first stage of the 2017-2018 CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Continental Cup. Kharkiv is not only a scientific, industrial and academic centre in Ukraine, but also a real sports city – and this status became evident when it received the status of sports capital of the Ukraine in 2016.
The two Beach Volleyball tournaments will be taking place at the Gorky Park, known as a place where residents can rest but also practice a number of sports. There are as many as four Beach Volleyball courts there, which have significantly helped develop the game not only in Kharkiv, but across Ukraine as well. In 2016, the venue played host to an EEVZA zonal event; last week Kharkiv hosted some kind of a rehearsal ahead of this week’s Satellite and Continental Cup, when playing host to the final stage of the Ukrainian U18 Beach Volleyball Championship. Some of the players (see picture) who competed in Kharkiv last week will return to the court this weekend trying to help Ukraine secure a spot to compete at next year’s Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires.
The organisers also look forward to a CEV Satellite with many close and exciting matches likely to entertain the audience. Many countries are sending teams to Kharkiv for this event – and the entries include also France’s Arnaud Loiseau and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat, who back in April won gold at the CEV Satellite in Göteborg, Sweden.
The competition will run from July 7 through to 9; live streaming of the final matches on July 9 will be available at LAOLA1.tv, as well as on two Ukrainian websites, Xsport and Sport 1, not to forget a YouTube channel set up by Broadcasting Solutions Kharkiv.
