CEV President attends opening ceremony of Skopje Satellite
2016 CEV Satellite - Skopje

Skopje, Former Y.R. of Macedonia, September 3, 2016. The CEV Satellite in Skopje continued on Friday with the first day of the Main Draw where all the pre-favourites performed well living up to their status of forces to be reckoned with for the medals that will be at stake on Sunday. Austrian twins Nadine and Teresa Strauss were especially impressive as they claimed their match with another pair of twins, Inna and Iryna Makhno of Ukraine (2-1; 21-19, 14-21, 15-9).

CEV President Aleksandar Boričić is in Skopje this weekend and attended the official opening ceremony of the tournament along with the Mayor of the Macedonian capital, Mr Koce Trajanovski and the President of the Volleyball Federation of the Former Y.R. of Macedonia, Mr Petar Jovanovski.

The CEV President praised the organisers of the Satellite for the work they have done so far and said he is happy that Skopje is playing host to such tournament for the second straight year – expressing his wish and hope that in 2017 a double-gender event will be taking place in the city.

Mr Boričić also said that the Volleyball Federation of the Former Y.R. of Macedonia is a precious partner for the CEV to rely on for the delivery of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball events of an international status and calibre.
