Thole leads Germany to success
2015 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship

Larnaka, Cyprus, September 3, 2015. The fact that the Germans Julius Thole and Eric Stadie played so well in all three of their matches so far at the 2015 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship will lead to someone think that they have been playing together for a long time. But, this is untrue as it’s the first time that they have joined forces representing their country in a big tournament.

“With Eric we clicked straight from the start. We complement each other’s game so well and this is very helpful, as you need team effort to achieve winning results. Today, like yesterday, we never relaxed and performed at our best,” said the lanky Thole, who was last year crowned European champion in the U18 men’s competition together with Sven Winter.

Thole and Stadie recorded during Thursday afternoon’s play their third win in consecutive matches, winning against Jakub Gala and Jiri Kraffer from the Czech Republic in straight sets 21-10, 21-12 in just 27 minutes.

As far as progressing further in the competition is concerned, Thole said: “We take each match at a time, we look at our game and ways to improve it, and not think about the other teams.  We realise, however, how hard it will be to reach the latter stages, as we are aware of the capabilities of our competitors.”
