Heroic win for French women’s team at Larnaka
2015 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship

Larnaka, Cyprus, September 2, 2015. Their will to win was so great for the French women’s team of Lézana Placette and Alexia Richard that not even shoulder injuries suffered by both of them, and losing the first set to their Polish opponents Agata Trybula and Martyna Kloda could prevent the tandem from recording their second win (8-21, 21-13, 16-14) on the first day of the 2015 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship.

“Despite all the difficulties we had to endure for the last 48 hours our hunger for success was very big. As we are optimistic by nature, we aim for even better results. Having said that, we recognise the difficulties we will have to face in the next matches. We are so grateful to our technical and coaching staff for all their help and support,” said Placette.

She and partner Alexia Richard had started the day with a massive 21-6, 21-14 win over Anastasija Kravcenoka and Tereze Hrapane of Latvia. “Our fighting spirit and high level of concentration were the secrets behind our win. When you are winning crucial points you forget all about pain. I wish the fans enjoyed the match as much as we did,” said Richard referring to her victory over Trybula/Kloda.
